Beaches:
Orient Bay: This 2 miles long, white powdered sand beach is very popular for water sports, sun bathing and snorkeling. The beach is reputed as much for its natural beauty and setting as it is for being the island´s foremost swimsuit optional beach. Also there are a lot of lunch and dining opportunities on the beach. Try Kontiki Beach and Kakao Bar for a delicious meal.
Dawn Beach: Dawn Beach is located on a walking distance from Princess Heights. However the beach is not very famous and busy, it’s more than beautiful. It has great reefs what makes it, according to many opinions, the best snorkeling spot on St. Maarten. There are chairs, umbrella’s and cabana’s you can rent. For lunch the best spots are Mr. Busby’s beach bar, Big Fish or at the Westin.
Mullet Bay: Mullet Bay is a large white sand beach, with slow rolling curls of waves coming in the beautiful, moon shaped bay. Its active surf makes this an attractive spot to local surfers. Because the beach is next to the airport you can see the planes arrive. Mullet Bay is a wonderful setting to see the sun go down. There is a small beach bar where they sell delicious ribs and chicken fresh from the barbeque. This beach is definitely highly recommended.
Activities:
Rhino Safari: This activity is very popular and can definitely recommended to all the people who are up for a exiting trip on a water scooter and some beautiful snorkeling. Adventures of all ages are guaranteed a thrill of a lifetime ride that is safe, sturdy, reliable and tons of fun. Prices are $ 59,00 per person on doubles and $ 95 on singles. Soaring between majestic 200 year old mango and mahogany trees via a series of ropes, cables, and suspended bridges is as close as you're going to get to flying across the top of a rainforest right up there where the monkeys and birds hang out! Princes are 55 Euro per person. Open Tuesday – Saturday.
Restaurants:
Pineapple Pete: This is a cozy family restaurant located in Simpson Bay across the cinema. There is live music every evening and the menu is very extended. They have fresh fish, wraps, steaks, salads and burgers. The prices are affordable and the seating is great. They also have special menu’s for the kids. Big Fish: According to many the best fish restaurant on the island. Big Fish is located in Oyster Pond, in the eastern of the island. What was once a small wooden house is now a smartly designed, restaurant with an open kitchen, an L-form seating area and outside decks above the water. When you're here try the seafood, which comes with a unique approach. You can select from 12 different kinds of fish and then pair them with one of the six sauces, including lemon grass coconut curry, Creole Pernod and the classic Béarnaise. Address: Emerald Merrit Road, Dawn Beach, Oyster Pond.
Spiga: Opened late in 2002, Spiga became an instant hit and today is one of the most popular restaurants in Grand Case. They have a creative Italian cuisine with excellent fish, meat and homemade pasta’s. Spiga is so popular that reservations are recommended.
