Sint Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association, SHTA, is the largest private business representative on the island. The SHTA, has close to 150 member companies on the island in most industries and sectors. Association Management focuses on creating, delivering and communicating benefits to members.

As General Manager of Princess Heights, Mr. Emil Lee is also president of the SHTA. On an island where tourism is the major industry, Mr. Lee feels being president of the SHTA is both a tremendous privilege and responsibility. Tourism is the engine that drives our economy, providing for everything, including infrastructure, education, employment and healthcare.

The SHTA’s sole focus is membership, which is the access to the SHTA benefits. Princess Heights has been a member for several years already. The benefits of this membership are created by the activities of the SHTA, of which the main activities are listed here: Association Management, Tourism Promotion, Advocacy and Product Development.

The SHTA have identified a number of issues that are important in our society and they have outlined several proposed solutions for the problems that we see today and in the future.

The main issues are: Safety & Security, Environment, Education, Employment, Traffic and Congestion, Economy, Cost of Living, Quality of Life.

Many of SHTA’s product improvement projects are funded through the generous contribution of visitors to the Dollar-A-Day fund. Your contribution of one dollar per day helps us to fund training seminars, product improvement projects, environmental programs and sustainable development initiatives.
